Kabengi’s main interests are in the areas of community capacity building, especially in leadership development, management of local organisations, local governance and economic empowerment issues

Munene joined PICOTEAM in 2005 and represents the organisation in Kenya. He owns rich working experiences with government, private sector and civil society organisations. Munene has carried out missions in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, partnering with regional institutions and international agencies.

For seven years, he held responsibility as local team leader and senior training manager in a bi-lateral cooperation project (Kenya/Germany) mainly focusing on evolving an organic model for assisting the youth venture into economic/entrepreneurship activities. Since 1995, he has mainly focused on the following areas: Community Capacity Building and Transformational Training, Institutional Development, Strategic Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation. After seven years, Munene concluded recently his backstopping and training services for a learning programme in Tanzania, supported by IFAD and InWEnt, focusing on diverse fields such as institutional development, local governance, environmental conservation, participatory irrigation, water and sanitation, food security, economic empowerment and advocacy.

Munene Kabengi holds the degree of a Bachelor of Commerce (B.com.) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, both awarded by the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
