10 November 2011 PICOTEAM published two brochures together with IFAD on Knowledge Management and Learning (KM&L) One brochure is about an integrated framework for KM&L which brings together Information Management, M&E, Communication, Innovation and Experimentation and focuses them all towards learning and adaptation. The whole concept is geared towards improving performance of programmes. The other concept is a framework to integrate KM&L into programmes with a wide range of strategies and ways to practically implement KM&L. 17 October 2011 PICOTEAM has had four sessions in the KNOWLEDGE SHARE FAIR The KNOWLEDGE SHAE FAIR was hosted by IFAD and FAO in Rome. We mainly presented and discussed the experiences with IFAD initiative on integrating knowledge management and learning in projects and programmes in Eastern and Southern Africa. Two brochures on these experiences created a lot of interest from many actors - who are all struggling with similar issues. We also ran a session on 'One persons practice is the other persons theory' and the application of the LearningWheel as a KM tool. 7 September 2011 New Publication online! PICOTEAM published one of their experiences on innovation system development in Ethiopia, which had a substantial impact on a number of commodities. The title is: A systems and partnership approach to agricultural research for development - Lessons from Ethiopia. (http://www.picoteam.org/publications/pdf/Abate%20and%20Hagmann%20-%20Ethiopia%20Process%20-%202011.pdf) 15 August 2011 New Programme on Natural Protected Area Management in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru PICOTEAM supported the preparation of a new programme of the German Development Cooperation (BMZ-GIZ) focusing on strengthening the national natural protected area systems of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru with respect to adaptation to climate change and conservation of biodiversity (Iniciativa Trinacional). 9 July 2011 PICOTEAM facilitated the planning meeting of the Conservation Agriculture Working Group in Southern Africa This group has been led by FAO, but the conclusions of the large CA symposium in February recommended a strong African led body to drive the promotion of CA in Southern Africa. The meeting came up with a well structured approach to support countries from regional level and FAO would become a support agency to the whole working group rather than being in charge. History |
